Very well put. The film had more continuity and ease of comprehension than most martial arts films I've seen. Unfortunately, it probably resembles more the spiritual realm in which we live more than we realize yet, that remains for some of us, to be seen. Knowing something of the Asian cultural beliefs it touches upon, (worship of many Gods, animal idolatry, etc. ), the ending still escaped my understanding except for what you have pointed out about Karma and a man reaping what he sows.
